Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

Why use DEF?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid lowers the concentration of nitrogen oxide, NOx, in emissions to meet EPA 2010 regulations.
Engineered for use in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems on diesel engines, it is comprised of a (32.5%) high-purity synthetic urea and (67.5%) deionized water mixture that is non-toxic and improves emissions and fuel economy. If you do not fill up with DEF, your catalytic converter could damage and cause your vehicle’s engine to longer be under warranty.
How does DEF work?
When injected into the exhaust stream passing to the catalytic converter, DEF converts NOx molecules into harmless nitrogen and water vapor resulting in cleaner emissions.
How much DEF will I need?
The DEF consumption is approximately 2% of your diesel fuel consumption (every 100 gallons consumed, use 2 gallons of DEF).
How do I store DEF?
DEF should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight. While optimum storage temperature is about 77°F, temporary exposure to higher temperatures will have little to no impact on the quality. DEF will freeze at 12OF.

To ensure peak performance of your diesel, Power Service recommends this maintenance schedule:
Every time you fill up
DIESEL KLEEN®+CETANE BOOST®
If temperatures are above 30°F., add Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost (silver bottle) to clean injectors, boost power, lubricate pumps and injectors and restore lost power and fuel economy.
DIESEL FUEL SUPPLEMENT®+CETANE BOOST®
If temperatures are below 30°F., add Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (white bottle) for winter operability to prevent fuel gelling and protect against fuel-filter icing.
In a winter emergency
DIESEL 911®
Use Diesel 911 to reliquefy gelled fuel and de-ice frozen fuel-filters if your vehicle will not start or gain power in cold weather.
At least quarterly or as needed
CLEAR-DIESEL® FUEL & TANK CLEANER
Treat with Clear-Diesel Fuel & Tank Cleaner to remove water, disperse contaminants and ensure fuel is stabilized for long-term storage.
If microbial contamination is present
BIO KLEEN® DIESEL FUEL BIOCIDE & CLEAR-DIESEL® FUEL & TANK CLEANER
Treat with Bio Kleen Diesel Fuel Biocide to kill the microbes and Clear-Diesel Fuel & Tank Cleaner to remove the residual water and contaminants.
